Step 1: Set Obsolete SKUs to be Closeout Managed
Select SKUs from the Closeout Management Grid to be included in next month's closeout promotion file.
-
Locate the Closeout Management Grid
- Sign into Acenet.
- Select Analytics Dashboard.
- If multi-store, consider turning on Multi-Store View to process all stores at one time.
- Under the Unproductive Inventory section, click the Current % hyperlink for Obsolete.
- A grid will load and populate SKUs suggested for markdown. These SKUs are non-discovery, non-collection, and in-season.
-
Header Button Definitions
- Print All: this will print the list of SKUs in Location order. This can useful if walking the floor to verify or inspect SKUs.
- Reset: clears the selections in the grid. Once a SKU is submitted it can't be "reset."
- Add SKUs: paste in your own SKU list if you'd like to manually add SKUs to COM. Adding a large number of SKUs to COM will create extra label maintenance and can have a negative impact to store image.
- Grey Header check boxes: a "select all" feature.
Checkbox Selection Options
- Start COM: sets Location 2 = MDR and Store Closeout Flag = Yes.
- Exclude COM SC=Y: sets Location 2 = XDR and Store Closeout Flag = Yes.
- Exclude COM SC=N: sets Location 2 = XDR and Store Closeout Flag = No.
- No Change: no action is committed to the SKU.
Examples for each selection option
- Start COM: I want this SKU on Closeout Management! It will be included in next month's promotion file.
- Exclude COM SC=Y: I don't want this SKU on COM but I don't want to replenish it when it sells out.
- Exclude COM SC=N: I don't want this SKU on COM and I want to replenish it when it sells out.
- No change: I don't know what I want to do or I want to ignore the SKU this month. This has the possibility of being recommended on future Closeout Management grids because MDR nor XDR was set on the SKU.
Select an action for each SKU
- Review SKUs and select 1 of the 4 options. Optional: you can print the listing of SKUs to walk the store floor before making decision (Print All button).
- Once you are satisfied with your selections, click Submit and Print in the upper right.
- This will send the information needed to your Eagle system to change Location 2 and/or the Store Closeout Flag.
- A window will appear allowing you to print the changes you submitted for your records.
- Once all the SKUs in the grid have been submitted, you're done!
- Next month, a promotion will be created in your system. Follow instructions in the MIP & Label section for steps on activating the promo and printing bin labels.
Advanced Users
Using Closeout Management before a reset or remodel has become a popular tool to get unwanted inventory out of the store without it ending up in a green tote in the back room. In the COM grid you'll find an Add SKU Button and clicking this will display a free form grid. You can copy and paste up to 250 SKUs at a time and select 1 of the 4 options for each SKU. A word of caution, adding a large number of SKUs to COM will create extra label maintenance and can have a negative impact to store image.
- Click Add SKUs in the upper-left.
- Paste or type in your list of SKUs.
- Click Add.
- Select 1 of the 4 options for each SKU.
- Click Submit and Print.
